In a powerful display of community solidarity, the uMshwathi Local Municipality recently concluded a successful three-day outreach campaign aimed at providing vital relief to hundreds of residents impacted by recent environmental disasters.

The initiative, which spanned across Bambanani and Dalton on the first day, New Hanover and Mpolweni on the second, and concluded in Swayimane-Entsheni on the third, saw the municipality join forces with the uMgogodla Women’s Forum, the Imbumba Foundation, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (KZNCOGTA), and the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Joined by local dignitaries, including Nkosi Gcumisa, Nkosi Gwamanda, and Nkosi Ntanzi, the coalition delivered comprehensive relief packages to 500 affected residents. Each package, consisting of food hampers, dignity and hygiene kits, warm blankets, and mattresses, was designed to address the immediate daily needs of families as they begin their recovery.

Local officials praised the project as a testament to the success of strategic partnerships, emphasizing that by combining municipal logistical reach with the generous resources of the IDC and the Imbumba Foundation, the collaborative intervention has provided a crucial lifeline to those in the most severely affected areas.
