uMshwathi Library Services has taken an initiative to coordinate a career guidance programme aimed at assisting learners from schools across the uMshwathi Municipality in making informed decisions about their educational and career futures.
As part of the programme, various tertiary institutions were invited to Mpolweni Hall in Ward 10, where they delivered presentations to Grade 9 learners from local schools.
The programme focused on helping learners understand the different study and career opportunities available to them as they prepare to select subjects for Grade 10.
The participating institutions provided valuable information on various fields of study, admission requirements and potential career pathways, enabling learners to make informed choices that align with their interests, abilities and future aspirations.
Ward 10 Councillor, Cllr Hlengiwe Ngubane, welcomed and appreciated the initiative by uMshwathi Municipality, emphasising the importance of exposing learners to career guidance at an early stage.
Cllr Ngubane commended the municipality and participating tertiary institutions for their efforts to prepare learners for their educational futures and encouraged learners to take full advantage of opportunities that can assist them in achieving their academic and career goals.
The programme forms part of uMshwathi Municipality’s commitment to supporting education and empowering young people with information and opportunities that can contribute to their long-term development and success.
