Women in law enforcement in uMshwathi Municipality commemorated Women’s Month by demonstrating their commitment and dedication to serving and protecting the community.
Cllr Nhlakanipho Gasa, who represented the Mayor of uMshwathi Municipality, paid tribute to the strength and contribution of women across all spheres of society. He acknowledged the significant role women have played throughout South Africa’s history, including their courageous resistance against the discriminatory pass laws during the apartheid era.
Cllr Gasa further encouraged women to remain strong and united in the ongoing fight against gender-based violence (GBV), emphasising the importance of women taking an active role in creating safer communities and protecting future generations.
As part of the Women’s Month commemoration, the uMshwathi Traffic Department, together with the South African Police Service (SAPS) from Wartburg and Cramond, as well as the Greytown Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), conducted a roadblock along the Greytown Road.
The operation focused on enforcing road safety legislation, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, and promoting responsible road use among motorists. The initiative demonstrates the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies to safeguarding the lives of road users and strengthening public safety within the uMshwathi community.
