Dignity Restored: Over 500 Families Receive Title Deeds and Homes in uMshwathi.

TRUSTFEED, WARD 9 – A wave of celebration swept through the uMshwathi Ridge community this Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as the Government Service Delivery Programme officially handed over new houses and more than 500 title deeds to local residents. The event, marked by songs of joy and tears of relief, represents a significant milestone in the provincial government’s commitment to providing secure land tenure and quality housing to the people of KwaZulu-Natal. For many beneficiaries, receiving a title deed is more than just a formality; it is a legal recognition of ownership that provides families with long-term security and a tangible asset for future generations.

The day’s proceedings began with a poignant tribute to the nation’s heroes during the uMshwathi Military Veterans Housing Handover. This specific project, located within the uMshwathi Local Municipality, was designed to honor those who served the country by providing them with high-quality, permanent residences. By prioritizing veterans, the programme highlights a dedicated effort to ensure that those who sacrificed for the nation’s freedom are afforded the dignity of a stable home environment.

Following the initial handover, a high-profile ceremony took place at the Trustfeed Sports Ground, drawing a collaborative assembly of local, district, and national leadership. Key attendees included KZN MEC for Transport & Human Settlements Siboniso Duma, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Angie Motshekga, and Minister of Human Settlements Thembi Simelane. They were joined by the uMgungundlovu District Mayor, Cllr Mzi Zuma, and Deputy Mayor Cllr S.A. Dlamini-Mabaso, signaling a unified front in tackling the province’s housing backlog.

The Mayor of uMshwathi, Cllr Mandla Zondi, expressed immense pride in the project’s completion, stating that seeing residents move into their new homes is a vital step in ensuring the community lives in safety. As the sun set on a historic Wednesday, the atmosphere in Trustfeed remained one of triumph, with 500 families finally holding the keys and deeds to a more secure future.
