The program took place at Mpolweni in ward 10 on 30 May 2023 30. In the program. Departments attended were Department of Education, Health and Social Development and N.G.O .All of them played a significant role in giving information that was in line with the program’s objectives.
The program was designed specifically to educate and unfold deeply on the risks of using drugs and teen pregnancy, and it was really enlightening and profitable for both learners and parents.
Hon Mayor of uMshwathi Municipality, Cllr Mandla Zondi, Ward Cllr H Ngubane and Municipal Manager Mr MN Mabaso. Hon welcomed the program and also gave the message of support.
Honorable Mayor of uMshwathi strongly warned school children to avoid to be victimized older people and also to be careful of strong influences of social networks Mayor further promise the community that, municipality will try to continue invest in programs that aim to help and uplift the entire community of uMshwathi. He also urged all youth and parents who are not yet registered to IEC to take advantage of the presence of IEC.
Municipal manager, Mr MN Mabaso also advised learners to run away from drugs abuse and encouraged parents to value such program of that nature.
Towards the closure of the program, there were commissions and presentation where General Manager of uMshwathi Community Department, Mr Thembinkosi Zondi who reminded parents to enforce discipline on their children at home. He encouraged parents not to consistently spank or otherwise physically abuse their children as a means of punishment. ‘’ Sometimes you have to humble yourself and speak to your child without any domestic child punishment ’’ he said. Mr. Zondi further urged parents to introduce their kids to entrepreneurships by purchasing for them packages of candy and bananas to sell at school. Doing so will reduce concerns with being strapped for cash while also introducing your kids to the concept of money management.
