Today, 2 December 2025, the Deputy Mayor of uMshwathi Municipality, Cllr Nokuthula Mdunge, led a multidisciplinary team comprising the KwaZulu-Natal Liquor Authority, the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Municipal Traffic Unit, the Consumer Rights Unit, SASSA and the Department of Social Development (DSD).

The purpose of the activation was to conduct an awareness campaign in Wartburg and Dalton ,targeting the people of uMshwathi, particularly senior citizens who were receiving their December social grant payments. The programme focused on educating beneficiaries on how to safeguard their bank cards, encouraging them to report any suspected criminal activity or attempted robbery at ATMs, and guiding them on responsible and effective financial management during the festive season.

Furthermore, the awareness emphasised the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption, the importance of avoiding unnecessary spending, and the need to remain vigilant when crossing busy roads. The multidisciplinary approach ensured that communities received comprehensive support and information aimed at promoting safety, responsible behaviour and overall well-being during the festive period.
