The Honourable Mayor of uMshwathi Municipality, Cllr Mandla Zondi, presented the 2025/26 budget, providing a detailed breakdown of projects to be undertaken. These include infrastructure projects such as road construction, hall renovations, sports ground development, as well as social services projects like local economic development, educational support, youth programs, sports support, and senior citizens’ support.
Cllr Zondi informed the community that the municipality faces budget constraints, making it impossible to cover all projects simultaneously. He explained that most of uMshwathi’s community resides in areas where rates are not paid, resulting in limited revenue generation. Consequently, the municipality relies heavily on government grants.



The Honourable Mayor of uMgungundlovu District, Cllr Mzi Zuma, presented the district’s budget, highlighting core functions such as the supply of clean water and sanitation facilities. He noted that the district also faces funding constraints, meaning that water infrastructure development will be implemented in phases.
The Imbizo provided an opportunity for community members to engage with both mayors, seeking clarity on various issues and receiving responses to their queries
