uMshwathi Municipality Invests in Youth Success through Education Development.

uMshwathi Municipality, in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education in uMgungundlovu District, successfully hosted a community outreach and career expo. The event took place at Swayimane Hall in Ward 8, bringing together matric learners and various tertiary education institutions.

The career expo provided learners with an opportunity to engage with universities, government Departments, private colleges, TVET colleges, and private companies such as SAPI.

The Honourable Mayor of uMshwathi Municipality, Councillor Mandla Zondi, emphasized the importance of informed career choices and encouraged learners to focus on their studies in preparation for their exams. “The purpose of this gathering is to empower learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their future careers,” said Councillor Mandla Zondi

Supporting Youth Success

Councillor Zondi also highlighted the municipality’s matric excellence awards, encouraging learners to strive for good results to qualify for recognition.

Mr. Thembinkosi Zondi, General Manager of Community Departments, outlined the support activities provided by the government and advised learners to avoid negative influences such as substance abuse, early pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases.

The uMshwathi Municipality remains committed to investing in the success of its youth through education development initiatives. By providing opportunities for learners to explore their career options and access support services, the municipality aims to foster a brighter future for the community.
