THE LAUNCH OF THE NOODSBERG FARMER PRODUCTION SUPPORT UNIT.

A state-of-the-art Noodsberg Farmer Production Support Unit (FPSU) has been officially opened amid much fanfare in the Swayimane area of uMshwathi Local Municipality under uMgungundlovu District Municipality.

We were part of the National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, along with the South African Development Association (SAFDA), that officiated the opening led by the national minister, the Honourable Mzwanele Nyhontso.

The facility serves as a storage hub for local farmers and provides farmer training and technology transfer for the farmers. The FPSU will also enhance the efficiency of the farmers’ production.

The Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr. Mzwanele Nyhontso, along with his counterpart, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa, have officially launched the state-of-the-art agricultural infrastructure at KwaSwayimane near New Hanover.

This facility was well received by the South African Farmers Development Association.

(SADFA). This FPSU will assist small-scale sugarcane growers and Black farmers from various sectors across the agricultural value chain within the uMshwathi area and subsequently benefit the surrounding community members.

Honorable Mayor of the uMshwathi Local Municipality, Cllr Mandla Zondi expressed his appreciation for the project’s launch and stated that it will assist all crop producers, not just sugarcane growers, because the ground in uMshwathi is appropriate for planting all crops regardless of season.
