Having noted that uMshwathi Local Municipality population is made up of people who are unemployed majority of whom are females who are young.
Believing that as much as uMshwathi Local Municipality is not an employment agency or creator but it remains a key enabler in terms of the creation of a conducive environment for the job creation.
herefore, uMshwathi Local Municipality in partnership with the Department of Arts, Culture and Sport Recreation conducted a very successful training program for bead making benefiting 28 people from all 14 wards.
Processes are underway to use Local Economic Development budget of the municipality to buy 28 starter packs for these beneficiaries to start production which they can sell in order to respond and confront the tripple challenges of unemployment, inequality and poverty.
The municipality will also be ensuring that during its people based programs, these beneficiaries will be invited to come and display their items for free.
