On September 16, 2024, uMshwathi Municipality began a highly progressive week. The uMshwathi leadership met with 22 secondary school principals today, during which Mr. Dlamini, a representative of Coastal TVET College who had signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Municipality, outlined the academic and skill program that the institution will provide in 2025.

The National Application Center’s Mr. Simphiwe Mngoma also discussed the resources they have available to guarantee that all Matric students receive access to postsecondary education and the support services they provide while in school.

Additionally, Ms. Andile Mkhize from the uMshwathi municipality discussed the policy on bursaries and the learnership opportunities that the municipality provides.
The Department of Education’s Chief Education expert, Mr. Naidoo, expressed gratitude to the municipality and other stakeholders for their generous support of students.

Honorable Cllr. Mandla Zondi, Mayor of the uMshwathi Municipality expressed his heartfelt thanks and admiration for the services provided this week by a variety of stakeholders. He encouraged administrators of schools to share what was offered to them with students so that all students would receive these support services.

Students who do poorly in matriculation are also given consideration by Tvet College for skill development.

Additionally, he stated that he wished for offices and departments to embrace the quarterly practice of providing services to the public, as evidenced this week by the growing demand for such services.

‘The majority of people lack the resources to access services provided in offices, so providing services to the public should be a priority’ said Hon Mayor.
