“As part of fighting unemployment, poverty and inequality including enabling businesses to triumph through business management skills development as one of the ways of stimulating local economic growth, uMshwathi Local Municipality through the Department of Community Service’s Local Economic Development Unit in partnership with Mthimkhulu Development and Training Institute conducted an induction workshop for its capacity development programme on the 5th of June 2024.

This business management capacity building program will last for 4 months targeting benefiting 70 young emerging entrepreneurs who will receive a stipend of R2000 for four months while another group of 28 beneficiaries will receive a stipend of R3000 per month for 12 months.

The stipend is meant to compensate them for their time, transportation and meal expenses. This is also part of celebrating youth month through business skills development and capacity building beyond holding of once off Events which are also important.” Writes Thembinkosi Zondi – Head of Department for Community Services, uMshwathi Local Municipality.
