The municipality collaborated with uMgibe Farming Organics, UMEDA, BRICS Women in Business Alliance in hosting a Stop Hidden Hunger Summit at Bon Accorde.

The event was to launch the Stop Hidden Hunger program. Presentations centred around different ways in which stakeholders can work together to fight hudden hunger and to to ensure sustainability of their farming ventures.

The event was attended by the Mayor of uMshwathi, UMDM Mayor, MEC for Agriculture, DG of Department of Women, Youth and PWDs, councillors from uMshwathi Municipality, officials from Msinsi Holdings, Institute of Afrikology, DUT, Islamic Relief, Momentum, South African Sugar Association and local farmers,

The resolutions taken at the summit include
i) Hosting a similar Umgibe event on an annual basis
ii) Packaging programs aimed at assisting small scale farmers
iii) That the program must cover all municipalities under UMDM
iv) Work towards establishing a farmers market in uMshwathi

The Program is the Vision of Dr. Nonhlanhla Joye the founder of Umgibe Stop Hidden Hunger Foundation. She says the vision is to see all households having a active farms to alleviate hunger.

The program was directed by Dr. Yaa Ashantewas Ngidi National Social Cohesion Advocate DSAC and founder of the Institute of Afrikology based in KZN.
